Using OpenLearn is a great way to support your OU studies, but far too many students don’t know the benefits it offers!
To address that, OpenLearn has created Supporting your OU study – OpenLearn for OU students – a short animation that explains how you can make the most of the free learning resources.
Situated in the ‘Open University induction’ area of the site (as well as on OpenLearn’s YouTube channel), alongside ‘Being an OU student’, the official OU new undergraduate student induction course, the animation explores how OpenLearn can help you to research your module or qualification, develop study and employability skills, and how to use OpenLearn as part of your formal studies.
And speaking of Being an OU student, have you completed the course and earned your digital badge yet? You’ll discover how you will be supported during your studies with then OU, the technologies you’ll encounter and how to plan for study with us as you progress.
In addition to offering an excellent introduction to life with the OU, we know that completing this induction course means you’re more likely to succeed on your modules: students who previously engaged with the course were 10% more likely to complete their module, and 10% more likely to start their next module. Students who use OpenLearn alongside their formal OU studies often tell us they wish they had known about OpenLearn sooner, so make sure you’re not missing out!
