Door 14: Take part in the governance reform debate

The deadline to join a campaign for or against the proposed changes to the Association's governance is approaching. Find out more here.

With the campaign sign up deadline fast approaching, we thought it would be good to have a run through of some of our FAQ’s and shed some more light on how you can get involved with the poposed governance reform.

What is the Governance Reform?

The governance reform is a series of proposed amendments to the Association’s governance, which will be voted upon at Conference in 2022.

Why does this matter to you?

Having your say in how your Students Association is run, and getting involved in student politics, is a fantastic opportunity for your self development, and the development of other student’s OU experience.

What are the Governance reform Resolutions?

If you haven’t seen them already, click here to have a read of the five proposed changes. These resolutions will be voted on by students at the OU Students Association Conference in January 2022.

Would you like to sign up to be a part of an official campaign?

If you are a current OU student and would like to be a part of the official ‘for’ or ‘against’ campaigns, you have until midnight on Wednesday 15th December to sign up.

Complete the  registration form to sign up to one of the campaigns.

What does joining a campaign involve?

You’ll have opportunities to:

1) Write blogs that will be published on The Hoot
2) Respond to written questions
3) Participate in an in-person online debate on the proposed Governance Reforms

If you don’t have time for the above or you want to get involved but don’t know how, you can still sign up to simply share your ideas with others. It’s also great fun to be a part of a team and this is a great opportunity to meet new people.

Got a question for the debates?

Do you have a question you would like answered in the debates? You can submit a question here.  Your question will be answered in either the debates, written form by each campaign or we may have already answered it in the Governance Reform FAQ’s.
