16 December marks 50 years since our inaugural student leadership team came together for the very first time at Walton Hall, which is why we celebrate the date as one of our two birthdays (yes, we know that’s a little bit greedy!)
At this first meeting our President Millicent Marsland and 33 other elected Student Representatives who had travelled from across the OU regions, met with the University’s Council.
To coincide with the anniversary of this momentous event, and truly mark the occasion, we are sharing a digital journey through our history and some of the Students Association’s proudest moments from the past 50 years.
You can browse our fully accessible web-only version on our website, or flip through this digital book and find out about our beginnings, past students and prominent events that have helped to shape us over the last half century into what we are today.
One of the ways you can help us to build the foundations of the next 50 years, is to support our fundraising campaign, which aims to raise £50,000 for the Open University Students Educational Trust (OUSET).
You can find more information on our website on how you can help us support OUSET, whether it’s donating through our JustGiving page, running your own mini fundraising campaign, or even by doing your usual online shopping through Amazon Smile.
