On #OUresults day I could not believe how I turned things around!
At the start of year two, I felt despair. I was only just passing my written assignments. How will I make it to the end of the year?
- Tutor support and feedback
- Peer and family support
- Self-motivation, organisation and determination
Tutors are there to support students. From tutorials to discussing assignment plans, use every opportunity to iron out your queries. The feedback from assignments is invaluable. Use that feedback to implement changes on upcoming assignments. Question anything you do not understand.
Student peers and your friends and family want to see you succeed so lean on them! Do not feel alone and isolated. There is always someone around to help. The Students Association, forums, clubs and communities and the Library to name a few – reach out to them.
Don’t disregard these services and support opportunities around you. They can really help you to feel part of a community and learn new skills and tips to improve upon those you already have. Tapping into all this can turn your pass into a distinction. I know many people just want to pass and that’s fine! Others really feel their grade personally, this is okay too.
When you want to do more and improve on your last assignment, remember you can! Your hard work and determination will make you grow. There is no failure, only lessons.
