Introducing myself – British Psychological Society Volunteer Student Ambassador, Northern Ireland

Sarah Ormsby tells us about her role as a BPS Student Ambassador for OU students in Northern Ireland.

Hello OU Students!

My name is Sarah and I wanted to take a quick minute to introduce myself as a volunteer British Psychological Society (BPS) Student Ambassador for the OU in Northern Ireland.

This volunteer role has been created by the BPS to  communication, so we can get create a clear path for communication between us students and the BPS, while also ensuring our student voices are heard across the society and the professional work-force.

“We are piloting this programme to help support and engage our ever-growing number of student members" Natalie Billing, Partnership and Careers Liaison Lead, BPS

I don't know about you, but I find getting to grips with the different study pathways and understanding the support is out there for the broader psychology workforce falling beyond core roles can be a bit of a minefield!  In the near future I'll be sharing information on exciting events and interesting webinars, careers resources and any other opportunites which might interest my fellow psychology students. I'm also here if you need help getting the right information around anything BPS related, from membership queries to career pathways and beyond.

The Northern Ireland Branch (NIBPS) have an excellent careers event coming up which is free to attend and open to both members and non-members of the BPS – you can book your place here.

Hope to 'meet' some of you at the event and in the meantime please feel free to reach out to me with any BPS related questions and I will be very happy to help you!
