Hi Everyone!
The OU Pride committee are a small group but we are very vocal when it comes to matters that impact our members!
As it’s the start of a new academic year for the OU, we thought it would be nice to introduce ourselves to you all.
Lyndsay (she/her) is Chair of the OU Pride Committee and graduated in 2022 in Business Management with Economics but hopes to start her Masters in Business Management this year. For her day job Lyndsay is an IT Manager, currently for a bank but with a background in broadcast technology.
Outside of work and the OU Lyndsay lives just outside Glasgow and is Mum to a Med student, a gorgeous greyhound and a foster Mum to greyhounds looking for their ‘forever home’.
Lyndsay enjoys listening to music (especially when its live and loud) and being outdoors with her partner and whichever dogs happen to be living in their house at the time!.
Steve (he/him) is Vice-Chair of the OU Pride Committee and currently in the fourth year of a law degree. He works full time for the NHS, with a background of fifteen years in corporate governance, education and local democracy. Steve has volunteered for many years with health charities, which has taken him across the UK delivering talks, and to China and South Africa, where he worked to deliver healthcare in rural communities.
Steve has written extensively on living with HIV and has had articles featured in several publications. He is a keen photographer and has held exhibitions of his work, selling several pieces. Steve also serves as Chair of two charities in Hampshire and enjoys walking, cooking and travel. He can usually be found in the kitchen.
Patrizia (she/her) is OU Pride’s Secretary and is currently studying for a degree in International Studies with a specialism in Politics and is absolutely loving it!
Beyond study Patrizia loves to read, listen to music and, whenever possible, travel to new places. Patrizia’s next goal is to travel to Southeast Asia.
Patrizia lives in Edinburgh with her wife, having been in Scotland for the past three and a half years. She was very surprised to see how tolerant society is there, compared to countries she’s lived in before.
Carly (she/her) is the Communications Officer for OU Pride and this year, is completing the last module towards her BA in History.
Carly lives in London with her wife and 2 cats, and runs a business part-time from home. When she’s not studying or working, she can usually be found in the garage tinkering with the oily bits of a British motorcycle (there are LOTS of oily bits), or gaming.
These are the faces behind the posts, (the rants!) and the events. We really hope you continue to engage with us through your time with the OU, because that’s why we are here, its why we care and its why we keep doing what we do.
Enjoy your studies! We hope to see you soon…
