Ready, steady, write!

Take part in our Writing Competition for a chance to win OU Students Shop goodies...

Do you love writing? (Yes, we hear you say) Then you've come to the right place!

To be in with a chance of winning items from the OU Students Shop (worth £100 for first place, £50 for second place and £25 for third place)*, why not take part in our Writing Competition? Winning entries will also be published on The Hoot and shared on social media.

We’re looking for an article, poem or creative writing piece of up to 1000 words on the theme ‘culture’. You could:

  • Share a story about your culture to share with others e.g. family traditions, food, festivities

  • Write about another culture that you’ve experienced

  • Write about experiences relating to culture e.g. ‘culture shock’ when moving to a new place

  • And lots more! Interpret the theme how you wish

This competition is open to all but we particularly encourage international students to take part and share their writing.

Entries must be submitted to oustudents-community@open.ac.uk, either within the text of an email or attached to the email as a Word Document. Please don’t include your name or PI number on the document as entries will be judged anonymously.

The competition closes at 11pm (GMT) on Sunday 27 February 2022, so get writing!

If you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch at the email address above. We can't wait to read your writing!
