As of 21st April 2022, the Scottish Psych-Com Committee has been officially launched!
We held a virtual meeting and invited students and staff to join and find out a bit more about who we are and what we want to do – create a space for psychology students to meet each other and build a sense of community. As we have mentioned before, although this launch is specifically for the Scottish committee, there will be committees across the other three home nations. Stay tuned!
A quick reminder of who we are – we are a committee made up of psychology students from the Open University who want to get students involved in creating a psychology community. We want to bridge the gap between students that exists in distance learning. Our committee members are all at various stages in our Open University journey. We hope that all students – whether you are just beginning your first level 1 undergraduate module or you are completing your postgraduate studies – feel welcome to join us.
Alongside the launch of the committee, we also officially launched our Facebook group, found here, or search ‘Psychology Students (Scotland)’. If you are a psychology student (past or present) studying with The Open University in Scotland, we would love for you to join our group.
Don’t worry if you don’t use Facebook – we are also aiming to set up a Twitter and Discord account and welcome suggestions for other social media we may be overlooking as we want to make sure we are not leaving anyone out.
As this committee is student led and student focused, we welcome students’ input. So much so, in fact, that we are giving students an exciting opportunity to rename the group!
From 21st April – 31st May, you can email your name suggestions to ScottishPsychologyCommittee@gmail.com and the winner will receive a £25 Love2Shop voucher.
We think this is the best way to show how important student voices are to the committee. We have already had some great suggestions – a big thank you from the committee to everyone who has submitted a suggestion so far, and good luck!
