The Seasons by Karen Richards

A poem written during the first lockdown of the pandemic, inspired by sights through the poet's window.

Autumn brings the gust of wind
Leaves rushing to get to their destination
From green to brown, the leaves stay pinned
Along the platforms at the station.

Winter with all its cluster of gloom
Cold, sharp temperatures falling
Leaves are left without a room
To prepare for their next calling.

Spring has a fresh change of scenery
With the blue skies, flowers blooming
Clean crisp green leaves along the rookery
Frogs peer out from the pond to see what’s looming.

Summer has finally arrived with the heat.
The sun beating down on our skin
Of all the seasons, this one is hard to beat
With inspirations all around, all we can do is win.
