My names Angela and I have spent seven long hard years gaining my degree whilst raising a family and working two jobs. 2020 was my final year and with my degree and youngest son in full-time school, my plan was to take the world by storm and skyrocket my career. As Woody Allen says – "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!". After such hard work, I had, like many of you, the anti-climatic finish to my final year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Lockdown brought my career aspirations crumbling down as now a massive recession loomed.
So, instead of filling my days with job searching and interviews, I was homeschooling and trying not to lose my mind. On a particularly stressful day, when I couldn't decide how I was actually going to murder my conspiracy theorist husband or what rope I was going to use to tie up my kids. I found myself locked away praying, praying for five minutes of peace. Having always written poems and ode as an emotional release, this is where I found myself, locked away writing about my secret thoughts to release the stress so I didn't murder my family or give myself liver damage through copious amounts of wine.

Cue the birth of 'The Secret Diary of a Lockdown Mum'. This book has been written to share some laughter about a difficult time we all had in lockdown. This is a book that for every parent who was with the Open University and studying at the time can relate to. I am donating 50% of all the royalties to the NHS as a thank you for their continuous hard work. I'd also like to thank the Open University as without the studying and learning and upskilling I gained with them, the confidence to write and have the ability to write would not be possible.
So, now with my first class BSc (Hons) in Sport, Fitness and Coaching degree I have become an Author. Proving the skills you learn with the Open University are not confined to the subject you study.
