I am currently doing an Open degree with the Open University. I find that writing and studying work well together, they have a few things in common:

You never stop learning students are forever learning, their work is marked and improvements suggested every time because there is always room to improve.

No wasted words when you write assessments you are given a word count you must stick

to, you have to learn to edit back to that if you overwrite, therefore every word must count.

Presentation work has to be presented in a specific way to meet the requirements.

Deadlines a late assessment will not be marked so everything has to be in on time.

Discipline you have to make time to study or you will fail your course.

Prompts Students have to write on a specific subject for each assessment, it is important to focus on that and not get lost on another track or you will lose marks.

Step by step in module we have to focus on one week/assessment at a time.

I enjoy both which is just as well as this year my module is creative writing.

I am sure I will learn a lot.
