<div class="fr-view"><p>From the 17th of April to the 6th of May, all OU students who haven&#039;t opted out can vote to elect key positions and representatives to the student union, OpenSU.</p>
<p>You can vote for all positions apart from regional representatives, who can only be voted on by students in those areas.</p>

<p><strong><u>Who I Am</u></strong></p>
<p>I am Aidan Gribble, and I&#039;m standing for the role of student trustee. I&#039;m in the first year of my Computing and IT OU degree, and I&#039;m currently working on TM129, MU123 and TM112. I previously attended the University of Edinburgh, where I studied biology, but for a variety of reasons, I left in my second year. I often felt like just one of many there, and as if the focus was on the institution rather than the student. This, along with the flexible schedule the Open University offers, is the key reason I feel more at home here. In my spare time, I enjoy technology and business, and if elected, I intend to use the experience I&#039;ve gained to help the union however I can.</p>

<p><strong><u>Why I&#039;m Standing</u></strong></p>
<p>Organisations such as the OpenSU can often feel distant, leading to students feeling unrepresented. As much as possible, I want to boost awareness of and engagement with the OpenSU. I want more students to feel that those in leadership positions are working to advance their interests. In addition to the issues I have placed focus on, there have been many excellent points raised by my fellow candidates. I intend to take all the action I can to ensure these issues are resolved.</p>

<p><strong><u>My Aims</u></strong></p>
<p>1. Signups for new clubs and societies have been unavailable for close to a year due to a &#039;policy review&#039;. I aim to make them available again as soon as possible and bring in policies to prevent similar excessive downtime from occurring in the future</p>
<p>2. Ensure that former OU students aren&#039;t separated from the OU community just because they have finished their studies.</p>
<p>3. Help boost awareness of and push for change on critical issues affecting students, such as grade inflation and financial wellbeing in a difficult economic environment.</p>
