The theme for this Trans Awareness Week is ‘Celebrating Trans Heroes’ and here at the Association, we want to spotlight the trans heroes who inspire us all! So, join us in celebrating these incredible and impactful heroes this week – and beyond! 

  1. 1 Marsha P. Johnson

    Marsha P. Johnson, a pioneering Black trans activist whose legacy continues to inspire. Marsha co-founded STAR to support homeless LGBTQIA+ youth, amplifying the voices of marginalised communities.  

  2. 2 Stephen Whittle

    Stephen Whittle, co-founder of Press for Change, emeritus professor of Equalities Law at MMU, and one of the UK’s leading activists in advocating for trans rights. Stephen has dedicated his life to bringing awareness, equality, and strength to trans communities! 

  3. 3 Charlie Craggs

    Charlie Craggs, a powerhouse advocate for trans rights, leading with #NailTransphobia and paving the way for the transgender flag emoji. An award-winning activist, she advocates for trans people across the world. She is the author of 'To My Trans Sisters' and the host of 'Transitioning Teens' on BBC3.  

  4. 4 Travis Alabanza

    Travis Alabanza, an award-winning writer, performer, and passionate advocate for trans rights! Their impactful contributions resonate loudly, exampled by their internationally sold-out show 'Burgerz', and their incredibly impactful book ‘None of the Above’, they are a fierce advocate for the lives of Trans and non-binary folk everywhere. 

  5. 5 Yvy DeLuca

    Yvy DeLuca, who is a South Asian trans writer and performer, shares tales of resilience in her works 'Tainted Beauty' and 'Yvolved'. Proud curator of A-POC-ALYPSE CABARET. Yvy also performs as The BollyWitch, incorporating Bollywood dance and the mystic world! 

  6. 6 Shon Faye

    Shon Faye continually champions justice and equality, from her impactful podcast 'Call Me Mother' to her groundbreaking book 'The Transgender Issue'. Her advocacy shines brightly, especially for this Trans Awareness Week.
