Every six months, we publish a newsletter specifically for OU students living in a secure environment. These students mainly use paper course material for their studies, meaning that they aren’t able to access the articles published on The Hoot. Therefore, we put together a bespoke newsletter, made up of relevant and interesting Hoot articles from thehootstudents.com, as well as articles written by staff at the Students Association.
The June 2024 newsletter recently came out (which you can download from the Association website). It starts with an inspirational student story submitted by one of our readers – it’s not to be missed! We have also included another collaboration with our friends at Student Hub Live – this time with a new study skill in focus.
There are also emotive submissions from our wider student community, including student reflections on imposter syndrome and neurodiversity.
We hope you enjoy this new issue and, as always, we encourage our SiSE students to send in any feedback, articles and commentary via their education contact.
The bespoke articles written for the printed edition of this newsletter are now available online on The Hoot:
- Studying with the OU has changed my life
- What students in secure environments say about the Library Study Volunteers service
- Quiz: How Bad Are Bananas?
- How to become a super reader
- The Volunteering and Representation team
- Who are the Strategy and Insight team?
- A student submission on mental health
By the way, did you know that all printed materials sent to Students in Secure Environments (SiSE), including Hoot newsletters, must be in black and white. Discover why this is the case.
