Hi everyone! Thank you for reading this wee blog!
Since last September we have had a monthly get together where OU students have come together, shared their experiences, and connected with each other in a more personal way. It’s a hub for face-to-face regular student representation in our most northerly city, Inverness.
It’s our time to talk about anything that is on our minds; whether it’s about our ‘online campus’ connections (such as the OU connect network), challenges you’re facing, or just things you’d like to see changed or improved.
It’s also a fantastic opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the OU Students Association and how support can be better offered. A time for listening, discussing, and cooperating to make our university experience even better.
Find out further details about our upcoming February meet-up.

We have enjoyed a lovely cuppa & biccies, and light refreshments since last September in the lounge of the Royal Highland Hotel, Station Square in Inverness (central and walkable from most city locations, right next to the train and bus station.)
A couple of us also agreed and signed up to attend a local ‘drink n draw’ night for a £5 entry one night back in November; not an OU event, but it was a fun way to spend a Friday night! It too is a local regular monthly event, as much as the weekly ceilidh dancing at Hootenanny’s!
Students from all faculties – STEM, FASS, WELS, FBL – are welcome to jump in and share your thoughts, or just come by to listen, whatever works for you! We want to make this a place where your voice is heard, and your input really matters. Let’s kick our studies off to a great start so when you’re feeling virtually isolated or just need a break from screens, you know there’s some real folk just in town for a real in-person get-together.

Grab yourself a cuppa, or whatever light refreshment you like, and come hang out with us! This is your chance to share your stories from your studies, ask any questions about the Students Association, and find out what support is available to you.
We’ll be there from 5pm to 8pm, but if you’re working or have a tight schedule, don’t worry, you’re welcome even if you can only pop by for a few minutes to say hello. If you can only make it around 4pm and can’t stay late (or after 7:30pm after work), then let us know via OU Connect and we’ll be happy to be there a little earlier from around 4pm and until about 9pm!
OU students are welcome every month or just the months it works for you. This is a relaxed time to connect, share and get the answers you need in a way that fits your time.
If you get caught out by heavy traffic, delayed buses or trains, or if the weather just is not cooperating, come on by and shelter with us for a bit! Grab a cuppa, relax and swap study stories. It is also a great chance to ask any questions you might have about the Students Association and the support we offer.
We’ll be ready and waiting between 5pm to 8pm, so feel free to drop in for as long or as little as you like. Even if you only have a few minutes to spare, we’d love to see you.
Looking forward to hearing from you all and having some great conversations!
