Here at the OU Students Association, we want to make sure everyone feels supported and empowered to be themselves. This Disability Pride Month, we have compiled a list of resources you can check out for support! #DisabilityPride
- Brownton Abbey (an ‘afro-futuristic performance party where queer black and brown disabled folks reign supreme’)
- Deaf Rainbow UK (supporting the deaf LGBTIQA+ community)
- Disability After Dark podcast with Andrew Gurza (a podcast which ‘shines a bright light on disability stories’)
- LGBTQ Disabled Queer and Hear (an organisation putting on community events for LGBTQ people with disabilities)
- Out Spoken (a project to raise awareness of the barriers which make life harder for LGBTQI+ autistic people and those who have a learning disability)
- Parapride (a charity advocating for the visibility, education and awareness of LGBTQ+ disabled people)
- Regard (a national organisation of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender, queer and intersex people who self-identity as disabled)
- Safe to be me (a guide from Age UK ‘for anyone working or volunteering in health, social care or the voluntary sector who would like to support older people who are lesbian, gay, bi or trans’)
- Supported Loving toolkit (a series of guides from the human rights-based campaign, Supported Loving, to help support people with issues surrounding sexuality and relationships)
