A personality quiz for Open University students!

By Scarlet James & Harry Jenkins

Personality is complicated. Everyone knows that, not just Psychology students. It’s shaped by who we are, what we’ve been through, how much sleep we didn’t get last night, and whether the kettle has already boiled.

Studying at The Open University already makes you a bit magical. You’re balancing learning with work, family, health, life admin, and the occasional existential crisis triggered by a deadline you definitely saw coming.

Which brings us to the only question that truly matters:

Which Hogwarts House best matches your OU study personality?

This quiz isn’t peer-reviewed (we’re deeply sorry), but it is informed by real student life, shared OU experience, and the universal truth that motivation lives somewhere between curiosity, caffeine, and stubborn refusal to give up.

One last thing…

If you find yourself nodding along to more than one House, that’s completely normal. Most of us aren’t just brave, or clever, or kind, or ambitious, especially as Open University students. Some days you’re Gryffindor, pushing through when everything feels hard. Other days, you’re Ravenclaw, curious and quietly absorbed. Sometimes you’re Hufflepuff, choosing kindness and balance, and sometimes you’re Slytherin, being strategic just to get through the week.

Studying at the OU asks a lot of us, and the truth is: we draw on all of these strengths at different times. So wherever you land today, remember, you already have more than one kind of magic!
