The Open University has been running free carbon literacy training, available to all OU students and staff over the recent months. This training was piloted through The Open University in Wales in 2022 and then rolled out to be available to all OU students and colleagues.
The University is keen to train anyone who is interested. This is a great way to complement your OU studies and get everyone thinking about sustainability in their personal lives, work and study.
The training is a mixture of self-directed study and online interactive learning in a group. It is designed to give a solid awareness of climate change and the climate impacts of our everyday actions. It allows participants to map their own carbon footprint and gain an understanding and the motivation to reduce personal and workplace emissions.
Director of The Open University in Wales, Louise Casella, discusses the importance and benefits of Carbon Literacy training in this two-minute video.
The online learning starts with four hours of self-study activity, followed by four hours of interactive training, and an individual and group action pledge that leads to Carbon Literacy certification.
If you are interested please Sign up for Carbon Literacy Training in English or in Welsh.
