Find your why: what keeps me grounded (and what might work for you)

<div class&equals;"fr-view"><h3><strong>We all need something to anchor us<&sol;strong><&sol;h3>&NewLine;<p>University life can be a lot&period; You&&num;8217&semi;re balancing studies&comma; finances&comma; work&comma; relationships&comma; family commitments&comma; and everything else that comes with trying to build a life for yourself&period; It&&num;8217&semi;s no surprise that stress and anxiety can sometimes feel overwhelming&period; I&&num;8217&semi;ve certainly had periods where I&&num;8217&semi;ve felt pulled in different directions&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h3><strong>What works for me<&sol;strong><&sol;h3>&NewLine;<p>For me&comma; training provides a sense of structure and perspective&period; Whether it&&num;8217&semi;s boxing&comma; HYROX&comma; or simply getting out for a walk&comma; it gives me a chance to switch off from everything else for a while and focus on something simple and immediate&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>It&&num;8217&semi;s not really about fitness&period; It&&num;8217&semi;s about having something that helps me reset&comma; clear my head&comma; and reconnect with myself when life feels busy or uncertain&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>I&&num;8217&semi;ve also met some fantastic people through it&period; People who encourage each other&comma; share experiences&comma; and remind you that you&&num;8217&semi;re not doing life alone&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h3><strong>Your thing might look completely different<&sol;strong><&sol;h3>&NewLine;<p>Maybe for you it&&num;8217&semi;s sport&period; Maybe it&&num;8217&semi;s music&comma; faith&comma; volunteering&comma; art&comma; gaming&comma; reading&comma; spending time outdoors&comma; or being part of a community that makes you feel like you belong&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The activity itself isn&&num;8217&semi;t the important part&period; What&&num;8217&semi;s important is finding something that helps you feel grounded&period; Something that gives you a sense of purpose&comma; enjoyment&comma; or connection when things feel difficult&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Because looking after your wellbeing isn&&num;8217&semi;t just about getting through the hard days&period; It&&num;8217&semi;s also about creating more of the things that help you feel like yourself&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>And if you&&num;8217&semi;re still figuring out what that looks like&comma; that&&num;8217&semi;s okay too&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"margin&colon; 0cm&semi;font-size&colon; medium&semi;font-family&colon; Aptos&comma; sans-serif&semi;color&colon; &num;000000&semi;font-style&colon; normal&semi;font-weight&colon; 400&semi;text-align&colon; start"><img class&equals;"fr-fic fr-dii wp-image-40904 aligncenter" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;thehootstudents&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2026&sol;09&sol;1790246428087&period;png" width&equals;"451" height&equals;"1" data-id&equals;"40904"><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em>As VP Student Welfare&comma; I&&num;8217&semi;m here to support students through the challenges that come with university life&period; But I&&num;8217&semi;m also someone who&&num;8217&semi;s still learning what keeps me grounded&period; This just happens to be part of my answer&period;<&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<div id&equals;"zfWrap">&NewLine;&Tab;&Tab;&NewLine; <&sol;div>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<&sol;div>
