<p>Gaurang and I wanted to express how pleased we are that we have been elected as Vice-Chair, and Chair respectively of the <a href="https://www.oustudents.com/get-involved/support-groups/bame-students-group/">Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority Committee</a> at The Open University. We hope our passion for fostering inclusivity and representing the diverse voices within our community will not only inspire you but encourage to take part.</p>
<p>In our new roles, we are thrilled to embark on this journey, aiming to create an inclusive space where every student&#8217;s perspective matters. We firmly believe that student engagement is the cornerstone of meaningful change. As such, we are eager to hear from fellow students, valuing your insights and ideas that can shape the events and initiatives of the committee.</p>
<p>One of the exciting discussions on the table is the potential change of the group&#8217;s name to ;perhaps ;either COMET (Communities of Ethnicities and Traditions) or REACH (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage). We ;are genuinely interested in your thoughts on this matter. Your feedback will be instrumental in guiding their decision-making process, ensuring that the committee&#8217;s identity resonates with the entire student body.</p>
<p>Additionally, the committee is currently looking to fill some key positions. They invite proactive and passionate students to consider joining as Secretary, Events Officer, or Communications Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute actively to the committee&#8217;s initiatives and make a positive impact within the university community.</p>
<p>We are here to listen, learn, and lead with your valuable input. Remember we are students, just like you so will understand the difficulties you may face, so please do not hesitate to contact us. Together, they aim to create a vibrant and inclusive environment where every student feels heard, respected, and represented.</p>
