<div class="fr-view"><p>You may not be aware of this, but many OU modules provide you with access to a system called Turnitin, to support your academic writing and referencing skills.</p>
<p>Turnitin is the system the OU uses to check your work against many sources, including books, journals, websites and module materials. It helps you make sure your writing is in your own words, and that you have used quotations and references correctly.</p>
<p>You can upload your draft assignment to Turnitin to see a similarity report. This shows any sections that match other sources, so you can add missing quotation marks or citations before your final submission.</p>
<p>If your module provides you with access to Turnitin, you will find more details and a link on the Assessment area of your module website (see the image below).</p>

<p>For modules which started after October 2025, you can check your draft assignment, edit it and then check the revised version. But please note:</p>
<ul>
<li>If you check multiple times, you&rsquo;ll have to allow more time for the later reports, so leave plenty of time before your deadline.</li>
<li>During busy periods (around Christmas and Easter, or ;close to EMA deadlines), Turnitin may take up to four days to generate a report.</li>
</ul>
