Which Greek ‘H’ deity are you?


Just as I did with the ‘A’ deities, I have grouped together the Greek gods and goddesses whose names begin with ‘H’: Hades, Hephaestus, Hera, Hermes and Hestia.

    Hades

    The god of the Underworld, which he rules with his wife (and also niece) Persephone.  Son of Cronus and Rhea, brother of Zeus and Poseidon. Hades' Roman equivalent is Pluto - though the name Hades can also mean the Underworld itself.

    The god of fire and crafts, the son of Zeus and Hera, or conceived by Hera alone. Hephaestus' Roman equivalent is Vulcan.

    Queen of Olympus and sister/wife of Zeus.  Goddess of marriage and family life. Daughter of Cronus and Rhea, Hera is probably the archetype of the wicked stepmother. Her Roman equivalent is Juno.

    The virgin goddess of the hearth and the home. Daughter of Cronus and Rhea, Hestia is possibly the only decent diety of Olympus - in that she never does anything particularly horrible.  Her Roman equivalent is Vesta.
