Galaxies in My Head

I spent my life believing
I just wasn’t built quite right.
That effort never equalled outcome.
and I always lost the fight.

My mind would sprint ahead of me.
My mouth would trip and stall,
I felt my feelings everywhere
yet couldn’t voice them all.

They said, “Just focus. Push it through.
You’re capable, you know.”
So I learned to call it failure
when my brain just wouldn’t slow.

I wore the weight of every “why”
like proof I didn’t try,
Turned symptoms into character
and swallowed every lie.

Then ADHD found my name
far later than it should,
But suddenly the past made sense
in ways I never could.

The noise became a signal.
the chaos had a thread,
I wasn’t weak or careless.
just mixed wires in my head.

Now I move with self-compassion.
not shame, not borrowed rules,
I build systems, not apologies.
I honour how I move.

Because a brain that races galaxies
was never meant to stay small,
It sees connections others miss
and feels the rise and fall.

I’m done asking for permission
to exist the way I do.
ADHD isn’t something wrong with me.
It’s the reason I break through.
