<div class="fr-view"><p>The Open University Vegan Club attended the Welcome Week Fair on Saturday 26 September at the OU&#8217;s Walton Hall campus.</p>
<p>OUVC ran a stall at the event welcoming guests and having a friendly chat about veganism. We also held a raffle offering some fantastic prizes, including Naked Paper vegan and sustainable toilet paper, Overherd oat milk, vegan fudge, a hedgehog highway, Vegan Propaganda book by Ed Winters, vegan soap, among much more! The funds raised will be donated to Nowzad animal rescue.</p>

<p>We really appreciate any sum you can afford to give. Nowzad is truly a fantastic charitable organisation originally founded by Pen Farthing. On a tour of duty in Afganistan as a Royal Marine, Pen was patrolling near a small town called Now Zad. Pen and his squad stopped an organised dog fight outside their base, and one dog in particular formed a special bond with the former Sergeant. That dog was hence given the name Nowzad, and the begining of a new calling for Pen had begun. Pen and Nowzad have rescued and treated thousands of animals across the country since then and more recently in Ukraine, after the invasion of Russian forces in 2022.</p>
