<div class&equals;"fr-view"><p>As the by-elections approach for the vacant positions in the Student Leadership Team &lpar;SLT&rpar;&comma; Michael Jones &lpar;Welsh Representative&rpar; and I &lpar;Ireland Representative&rpar; wanted to take a moment to reflect on our experiences so far and encourage all students to consider this incredibly rewarding opportunity&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>My experience as the Ireland Representative<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>When I first began my studies&comma; I had no set plan to get involved in student leadership&period; However&comma; over my first two years&comma; I noticed a lack of representation for Ireland&comma; and I felt it was important to step up and make a difference&period; That decision led to my election to the team in July last year&comma; and I have never looked back&period; To any student considering a role this year&comma; I would strongly encourage you to put yourself forward&period; If you have a desire to improve the OU student experience&comma; that passion alone is enough to make a meaningful impact&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In my short time in post&comma; this role has provided me with incredible opportunities and allowed me to meet so many inspiring people&period; One of the highlights was attending the Croke Park graduation in September&comma; where I had the privilege of seeing students celebrate their well-earned degrees&period; Additionally&comma; I have regularly visited the Belfast office to engage with staff and students&comma; and attended study days where I have connected with students from a wide range of subject backgrounds&period; The SLT is a fantastic platform for meeting fellow students and providing support in ways that genuinely make a difference&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The team meets regularly to discuss student issues and put our plans into action for our two-year term&period; My final piece of advice is to encourage all students to consider putting their name forward and seizing this incredible opportunity in student leadership&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Now&comma; some words from your Welsh Representative<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Being a part of the Student Leadership Team feels like being part of a family&period; Although there have been challenges&comma; they have been more than worth overcoming&period; There is no greater feeling than helping to build a positive&comma; engaging&comma; and welcoming community within our University&period; The number of people I have had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with&comma; and the relationships I have built&comma; have been the highlight of my university experience&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Working with the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research in Wales while striving to create a thriving student community has been incredibly rewarding&period; I am excited to complete the rest of my term and would love for more students to join our team&comma; bringing their passion and enthusiasm to enhance our collective experience and strengthen our student community even further&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<div id&equals;"zfWrap">&NewLine;&Tab;&Tab;&NewLine; <&sol;div>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<&sol;div>
