Hi! I’m Armina Zardkoohi, and I recently graduated with a degree in Business Management from the OU. Looking back, my one regret is not getting involved in student societies sooner – but better late than never! A few months ago, I reached out to the OU Environmental and Sustainability Society (OUESS), and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I made during my time at university. Shortly after joining, I even became the deputy chair!
Through OUESS, I’ve met incredible people who share a passion for sustainability. It’s opened my eyes to new perspectives and given me the chance to contribute to meaningful projects. Now, with a fresh relaunch and an exciting logo competition (spoiler: there’s a prize for the winning design!), we’re eager to welcome even more students, staff, and alumni to join us. Keep an eye out – more details on the competition guidelines will be shared soon!
If you’re interested in sustainability or just want to connect with others who care about making a difference, OUESS is the perfect place to start. To become a member, you can join our Facebook group to stay up-to-date with our upcoming events and initiatives.
As part of Welcome Week, we’re excited to host the Green Impact Panel on Wednesday, 2 October, from 6:30pm–8pm, where OU academics and sustainability innovators will come together to share their incredible work with OU students. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet the team, learn more about what we do, and explore practical ways we can all make a positive impact. Find all the details here.
Whether you’re new to sustainability or looking to make a bigger impact, we’d love to have you on board! And if Facebook isn’t your thing, feel free to email us at OUESSociety@gmail.com to sign up for our newsletter and stay updated.
