Conference 2024 will be held on Saturday 15 June, and we are excited to welcome as many OU students as possible to this incredible online event!
The Students Association Board of Trustees decided that Conference 2024 would be held online to include as many OU students as possible in Conference business as well as getting involved in the activities on the day. In previous years, Conference attendance was capped at 300 students (out of around 170,000 students currently studying!). Making this Conference accessible online has improved inclusivity and representation as now every single OU student can vote if they want to.
Since the event is being held online, we are pleased to be able to welcome all OU students to attend Conference to discuss and vote on key decisions that will affect a range of policies at the Association. In being able to invite all OU students who wish to attend, Conference 2024 will be our most accessible and democratic one yet.
Taking place every two years, Conference is an incredibly important opportunity for students to have a say in how the Students Association is run – and to have their voices heard (read more about our previous Conferences). The event is full of opportunities to get involved with the Students Association, engage with other students and gain valuable skills.

Debates and discussion: 10 – 23 May
Ahead of the day of Conference in June there are engaging debates (where you are welcome to simply listen or ask questions) and the chance to then vote on the resolutions in the following weeks.
There is also a place to share your ideas for policies on the Conference page of our website.
Voting: 24 May – 7 June
Voting on Conference business will empower you to impact your experience as an OU student and, as a registered charity, it is vital that we get the chance to hear from our students in this way. When you have voted on these resolutions (you will receive an email with instructions to do this), you will then be given access to register to attend Conference itself on 15 June.
Conference day: Saturday 15 June
On the day of Conference there will be a packed programme of student-focused activities, sessions and workshops. Our Student Leadership Team will conduct official business at the Milton Keynes campus. This includes ratifying events, policies and minutes from previous meetings and changing the Articles of Association.
You will have the chance to take part in key Association business, hear from inspiring speakers and enjoy a range of activities on interesting and fun topics.
