The OU Students Association welcomed Tanvi Kant – an interdisciplinary artist based in the Southeast of England for Welcome Week in October. Tanvi hosted a two-hour interactive workshop, where students came equipped with materials such as magazines, string, pens, pencils and junk mail to create a collage based on the theme: ‘study journey’.

Following artist demonstrations by Tanvi, both new and returning students were invited to create a collage personal to their learning journey during the session. The event was warm and welcoming with some students describing the session as therapeutic.

Here are some of the creations from the event:

A letter 'D' shape in a collage of newspaper cuttings.Michelle used newspaper cuttings to form this collage in a letter 'D' shape.

A collage of line drawings and cut-out images, including Paddington Bear.Chloe made a collage by using cut-out images and line drawings.

A collage including an open mouth of an animal with a sunset inside it.Collage by OU Student Eleanor
