At The Open University, we students can have a real say in how our courses are designed and delivered. Across all subjects, the feedback, ideas, and experiences we share help shape the learning environment and make programmes work better for everyone.
As Student Representative for the School of Engineering and Innovation, I’m passing on an opportunity from the School of Engineering. Up to 16 engineering students are being invited to take part in a meeting with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) as part of an upcoming accreditation visit.
Meeting date: 24th February (after lunch)
Deadline to register interest: 9th February
This is open to engineering students only.
Participants will:
-
Share their experience as OU engineering students
-
Contribute to how engineering programmes are represented
-
Learn how professional accreditation processes work

Opportunities like this show why student voices are so important in shaping courses and professional standards — something that applies across the whole University. It’s great to see fellow students being given the chance to help make sure programmes stay high-quality and relevant to real-world learning.
