As some of you will know, the International Students Club was created earlier this year. It is a place where international OU students can interact and further build the international students community. The membership is growing every day and we now have more than 160 members. The majority of our members are foreign students who either live in the UK or anywhere else in the world, but we also have members who are from the UK, but who do not live in the UK.

The Club has a dedicated space on OU Students Connect and students can join through the following link. There is no fee to join the Club. More information is also available on the International Student Club’s website page. The Club Leads are Maurine and Tim, who are supported by me. Maurine and Tim will introduce themselves below.

So, if you are interested in joining the international community at the OU, please join us at the International Students Club! We are looking forward to welcoming you!

Introduction from Maurine

Hi, my name is Maurine! I am 23 years old. I was born and raised in our (sometimes) sunny South of France, where I live with my family. I have been studying at the OU for two years now, discovering Arts and Humanities first, and now starting a module in Creative Writing. My aim is to obtain my BA in English Literature and Creative writing. I am a blind student, and studying online is much easier for me. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, meeting new people, and above all, singing, discovering voices, and music in general. I became International Students Club Lead because I find it essential to give a sense of community to international students. Wherever you come from, wherever you are, with your culture and roots, we are all in the same boat, and our identities matter!

Introduction from Tim

I am Tim, I am 38 years old, born and raised in Germany, lived in 6 other countries and currently (and hopefully forever) residing in beautiful Interlaken, Switzerland. In my free time, I am in the gym, paragliding, in the mountains, at the lake or doing yoga. I became International Students Club Lead as I missed having a platform to meet other internationals.
