If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be standing for President, I probably would have laughed… then gone back to trying to study while my Maine Coon, Winter, sits directly on my notes like she had strong opinions on my assignment.

But here I am, because this role isn’t just about leadership. It’s about purpose.

And my purpose is simple: to make sure every student feels seen, supported, and able to succeed.

A Journey That Reflects Real Student Life

Like many of you, my journey with the Open University hasn’t been straightforward.

I’m a full-time Psychology student. I’m a mum to two boys, one navigating university life himself, and one currently tackling GCSEs. I’m neurodivergent, and I live with fibromyalgia. For a long time, I felt isolated before finding my place in this community.

That lived experience shapes everything I do.

Because representation isn’t just about being present, it’s about understanding the reality of the students you represent.

Building Community with Purpose

Co-leading the Wales Club has been one of the most meaningful parts of my journey.

What started as an idea has grown into a space that is open to all, rooted in Wales, and united in learning. From our weekly Virtual Study Rooms to our “Word of the Week,” it’s about creating connection in ways that feel accessible, relaxed, and genuinely inclusive.

Sometimes that includes a cat walking across the screen.

But more importantly, it includes people feeling like they belong.

And that’s what purposeful leadership looks like: creating spaces where students don’t have to ask if they fit in.

Turning Student Voice into Action

In my roles as a Student Representative, a member of the Senate, and a member of the WELS ECYS Board of Studies, I’ve made it my priority to ensure that student voices lead to real outcomes.

That means more than listening, it means acting.

I’ve seen how student feedback can shape meaningful change, from consultations to improvements in student experience. But I also know there’s more we can do to make those processes clearer, fairer, and more visible to all students.

My commitment is simple:
Listen with intent, act with purpose, and always follow through.

Leadership That Lifts Others

For me, leadership isn’t about standing above others, it’s about lifting people up.

I’ve worked alongside incredible volunteers, supported fellow students, and collaborated across communities within OpenSU. Those experiences have shown me that the strongest leadership comes from connection, trust, and shared purpose.

When we support each other, we don’t just improve individual experiences, we strengthen the entire student community.

Real Life, Real Understanding, Real Representation

OU students don’t fit into one box, and neither do I.

We are balancing studies with families, work, health, and everything in between. I live that every day, and I bring that understanding into every role I take on.

Whether it’s through the articles I’ve written, the spaces I’ve created, or the conversations I’ve had, my focus has always been the same: making sure students feel heard, understood, and supported.

Even if that sometimes happens with a Maine Coon supervising the process.

What I Stand For

My manifesto is grounded in purposeful, practical change:

  • Strengthening student communities so no one feels alone
  • Improving communication so students feel informed and empowered
  • Making support clearer, fairer, and more accessible
  • Championing inclusion so every student can thrive

And at the centre of it all:

your voice matters.

Why Me?

Because I lead with both purpose and care.

Because I’ve lived the challenges students face, and I work every day to make them easier.

Because I believe leadership should be visible, human, and rooted in real experience.

And because I won’t just represent you, I will stand alongside you.

A Final Thought

This campaign is about more than a position, it’s about building something meaningful together.

A student community where everyone feels they belong. Where voices are not only heard but valued. Where leadership is something you can see, trust, and connect with.

So if you’re looking for someone who will lead with purpose, act with heart, and maybe bring a little bit of Winter along the way,

If you believe in this vision, I’d love your support in voting for me as your next OpenSU President!
