Welcome Week is nearly here, and I’m so excited to see everyone! Alongside the chance to meet new faces and catch up with familiar ones, we’re bringing a little pre-loved joy to the week with our very own clothes swap shop.
We’re getting involved in Oxfam’s Second Hand September, a brilliant campaign encouraging us to embrace second-hand clothing, keep clothes in use for longer, and reduce waste. What better way to join in than by giving the clothes we no longer wear a new home within our own community?
The idea is simple: bring along clothes you’re ready to part with, browse the rail and swap them for something you’d love to take home. It could be something from your own wardrobe, children’s clothes they’ve outgrown, or items your husband, partner, or another family member no longer wears. Bring along clean clothes in good condition that someone else can enjoy, and see what catches your eye!
I love that something as simple as swapping clothes can bring people together while helping us make better use of what we already have. It’s a chance to refresh your wardrobe without spending anything, find something a little different and give pre-loved pieces another chapter. Taking a small step towards sustainability together feels like a lovely way to start the year.
I’ll be dotted around throughout Welcome Week, so please do come up and say hello. Whether you’re bringing something to swap, having a look at the rail or just stopping for a chat, I’d love to see you.
There’s more to come on sustainability, and I’m looking forward to sharing that with you. For now, rummage through your wardrobe and bring your pre-loved finds to Welcome Week. I can’t wait to see you there!
