Don’t worry folks, I’m not going to rehash my manifesto! You all know where to read it.
I’m Kit Renard. Currently a Level 2 English Literature and Creative Writing student, but I’ll be starting Level 3 in October.
I’m a disabled queer trans man from Glasgow, and I love to volunteer. I’ve held loads of different roles around OpenSU, from the Student Senate Reference Group to Chair of Pride. I also volunteer out with the SU in roles ranging from the board of Trans Pride Scotland to legal tribunals such as Children’s Hearing Panels.
This means I draw upon a broad range of experience, something I think is key to being President of the SLT. You don’t just need to be a leader, you need to understand the various different aspects of OpenSU and the Open University, from the inside and out.
But I don’t only bring experience with the mechanisms of the SU! One of the things I’m proudest of is bringing Pride through a period of turmoil to the fabulous space we have today. I worked hard with the committee (KJ, Oskar, Kevin, and Kathy) to make Pride something to be proud of. We’ve had so many amazing events. We’ve stood up for the most marginalised when the OU wouldn’t. If I’m elected, my one regret will be having to leave the Pride committee!
I want to bring this dedication to students all the way to the top, and I can only do that if you vote Kit Renard #1 on the 17th April.
