A Lockdown Poem

Share

It’s been 2 months since lockdown

And we’re missing family and friends

We can’t wait for cuddles and kisses

When all this finally ends

We are eating more than ever

And getting double chins

From scoffing too many cakes

And raiding our biscuit tins

With another Zoom quiz done

And a sixth banana bread cooked

We’re binge-watching on boxsets

And on Netflix we’re getting hooked

But for some it must be lonely

And for them it can’t be easy

When other people around them

Are feeling bright and breezy

One thing you can do to feel better

Is go for a walk or a run

Or grab that book from the shelf

And go sit outside in the sun

Play your favourite music

Take a relaxing bath

Google some funny jokes

And give yourself a laugh

A random act of kindness

For someone who’s feeling blue

Can really uplift their mood

But is just as good for you

Please take some time for yourself

You’ll feel good when it’s done

At the end of the day you’re brilliant

So look after number one
