Christmas has officially ended and the New Year has started. So, first of all, Happy New Year and I hope you've had a lovely Christmas.

One of my presents this year was a book called The Trial by the one and only Rob Rinder (who we all know and love as Judge Rinder).

Here's some background of Robert Rinder (in case you don't know who he is) – Robert is a Business Crime and Financial Services and a Criminal Defence Barrister. He was called to the Bar in 2001 and rewarded with an MBE in 2021 for his services to Holocaust education and awareness.

Rob also had a TV show called Judge Rinder, which ran from 2014 to 2020. It has eight seasons, so if you missed out, go and give it a watch. Judge Rinder is a reality TV show in which Judge Rinder listens to grievances and disputes, and tries to resolve the matters in an idealistic and impartial manner.

After all of that, Rob Rinder then released a book – this man has many talents and has pursued a lot in his career. This book is a gripping read! I struggled to put it down – I was reading sometimes 2-4 hours a night because I needed to know what happened next.

A picture of weighing scales and a gavel.

The story is gripping and certainly keeps you on the edge of your page. The story is about a barrister who is currently trying to gain his pupillage into chambers, and all of a sudden has one of the biggest cases of his life.

The person that was murdered is in high authority and supposedly has a few enemies, but they are not made known.

This young man has a murder case, chambers he's trying to impress to gain a spot, and is also trying to keep his head on straight whilst trying to find the murderer.

The way this book is written, you can tell Rinder's humour at some points of the story. (If you read the book and you know Judge Rinder, then you will understand what I mean.)

The book is gripping and it's the best book I have read so far!

There is already another book that continues from The Trial which is called The Suspect, and that is going to be released in June 2024.

Believe me, I am going to be pre-ordering that book!

Go and give The Trial a read. If you like your crime novels and murder novels, then you will love this!

Oh, I forgot to mention that in The Trial, the murder happens in The Old Bailey. Enjoy!
