The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2023

Share

Giving Tuesday (on 28 November) sees the return of the Big Give Christmas Challenge, which the OU will be taking part in for the sixth year running! From midday on Tuesday 28 November to midday on Tuesday 5 December, we’re hoping to raise an incredible £36,000 for the Disabled Veterans’ Scholarships Fund.

The Big Give week is an exciting and unique fundraising opportunity, and the first £18,000 of donations received during the campaign will automatically be doubled through match funding from the Reed Foundation and a generous donor from our alumni community. We will be encouraging our wonderful OU family to support this year’s campaign to help disabled veterans transform their lives with an OU education.

Will you share our posts on social media? We would be so grateful if you would help us spread the campaign far and wide! Just look out for the regular posts across all social media accounts, beginning on Tuesday 28 November.

Since its launch in 2018, more than 300 disabled veterans have reaped the life-changing benefits of receiving a scholarship through the Fund. Its core mission is to provide education, help and support for those who wish to build a new life after leaving the military.

Steven Wilson, veteran and OU graduate, said:

‘’The support from the OU has been outstanding. I’ve got that feeling of ‘belonging’ again. These scholarships give disabled veterans like myself the chance to retrain for a job that brings meaning and a sense of purpose back into our lives’’.
